If your vehicle still has cloth braided fuel hose fitted, you need to upgrade it. Full stop.
Cloth braided hose is not compatible with modern fuels, and will become brittle and fail, resulting in fuel leaks. This can happen in a very short period of time.
Our modern R9 high specification fuel hose, is an ideal upgrade / replacement hose for all Air-Cooled vehicles, including Beetle, Ghia, Type-3 & Buses.
The specification is referred to as SAE J30 R9, and is used on modern fuel injection vehicles, it is designed to withstand modern unleaded fuels.
Over recent years, fuel at the pump has been replaced with a grade referred to as E5. It contains a 5% mix of Ethanol. The Ethanol mix is better for the environment, but unfortunately degrades rubber fuel hoses. There are current government proposals to change unleaded fuels to E10, with 10% Ethanol. SAE J30 R9 fuel hose is designed to withstand the level of Ethanol in E5 and E10 fuels.
Please note, we no longer stock original style cloth braided fuel hose, as the SAE J30 R9 is much safer. Fuel hoses should be checked every few months, and replaced, if there are any signs of degradation. We believe that anybody using the old style cloth (or stainless) braided should now upgrade to the more modern higher specification. It is far better to be safe.
The hose has a 5.6mm internal bore, which is ideal for all standard installations as well as most twin carburettor set-ups.
The external diameter is 12.6mm, which is larger than the original cloth braid hose, so you will need to use larger clips. We keep the correct clips in stock, Item code 054.690.50.
This hose is black, and is printed with W = SAE J30 R9 FUEL INJECTION 5.6MM.
Designed to be used on modern Fuel Injected vehicles, but is obviously compatible with Carburettor Fuel Systems, as found on Air-Cooled vehicles.
By the metre hose is
supplied as a continuous length. In the unlikely event this is not
possible (eg. we need to take from two reels) we will contact you before
despatch.
Virtually all orders placed by 5pm are despatched the same working day, Monday through Friday.
Orders placed after 5pm are processed the next working day.

When can I expect delivery?
We despatch small lightweight orders with Royal Mail, and delivery is normally between 1 to 3 working days.
Heavier orders (over 2Kg) and higher value orders (over £100) are despatched with Fedex couriers for next working day delivery.
Free Shipping
Free shipping orders are despatched with the same priority. No difference in level of service.

Stock Levels
We work very hard to keep all popular items in stock, but due to the number of product lines that we supply, it is inevitable that some back-orders will occur from time to time. Please email if you want us to check a specific item for you.
Pick & Pack
All orders are manually checked, prior to passing through to the warehouse for picking and packing. You will receive an email confirmation of your order. Should any items be in a back-order status, you will be informed at this stage with an anticipated timescale.
Email Confirmation
When your order is packed and despatched, you will receive an automated email. The email will contain courier and consignment details (with a link to tracking information) as applicable and estimated delivery date.
Back-order Despatches
If your order has multiple items, we often despatch the majority of the order the same working day, with any back-order to follow. However, if we can fulfil within a very quick timescale (normally within a day or two), we may hold the order and despatch complete. We always aim to keep you informed of progress, fulfilling any back order items is always a high-priority for us.
